Team Sky

The Team Sky is a British cycling team based in Manchester. It was founded on 26 February 2009. Since 2010, the team participates in road cycling and was awarded a ProTeam license of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI ). Name giver main sponsor of the team is British Sky Broadcasting. The stated goal of the team to produce the first British Tour de France winner within five years since its founding, has been achieved by Bradley Wiggins in 2012. For the first season of the now replaced by the UCI World Tour UCI ProTour Kurt Asle Arvesen -, Edvald Boasson Hagen and Juan Antonio Flecha were, among others, Bradley Wiggins, obliged. The team is equipped with wheels of the brand Pinarello, clothing sponsor is the British company Rapha.

There is a close personal links of the team with the British Cycling Federation British Cycling (BC ). Several board members as well as the President of BC, Brian Cookson, working for Team Sky or for the Company Tour Racing Limited, which operates the team and British Sky Broadcasting belongs.
