Tebaram

Tébaram is a rural municipality in the department of Tahoua in Niger.

Geography

Tébaram lies in the Sahel. The neighboring municipalities are Tillia in the north, Takanamat in the northeast, Bambeye the southeast, Bagaroua in the south, Kourfeye Centre in the southwest and Sanam in the northwest. The municipality is divided into 21 administrative villages, 41 hamlets and a warehouse. The main town of the country church is the administrative village Tébaram.

History

The rural community Tébaram went out in 2002 as part of a nationwide administrative reform from the western part of the canton Bambeye.

Population

At the 2001 census Tébaram had 30,771 inhabitants. For the year 2010 41.458 inhabitants were calculated.

Policy

In the local elections in July 2004 Ibrahim Doroua ( PNDS - Tarayya ) was elected mayor. On 15 April 2010 the Council of Ministers Dan Fane Weslamane appointed administrator ( Administrateur Délégué ) of the communities Bambeye, Tébaram and Takanamat.

Economy and infrastructure

The community is located mainly in an area is operated in the Agropastoralismus. In the southeast of the zone of rainfed farming begins. Of economic importance for the population is the labor migration abroad. By Tébaram the National Road 25, which connects the town on Filingue with the Nigerien capital Niamey runs.
