Techelsdorf

Techelsdorf is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg -Eckernförde in Schleswig -Holstein.

Geography and transport

Techelsdorf lies about 10 km south of Kiel at the headwaters of the Eider. To the west runs the federal highway 215 to Neumünster, east of State Road 404, which is further south on Federal Highway 21 to Lübeck.

Policy

Of the seven seats in the municipal council has the voter community WGT since the municipal election of 2008, all seats.

Valley of the upper Eider

Techelsdorf is a starting point for the Eider Valley Trail. The Eidertal was selected as a model project for the waterlogging of fens. There is extensive grazing, with back breeding of wild horse breeds and aurochs are used. At the 390 -acre project area except the lowland also includes the adjoining wall.

Oldest iron bridge in the country

On the way to Grevenkrug an iron bridge crosses the Eider. It is a listed building, because it is the oldest iron construction of this kind in Schleswig -Holstein. The bridge was built in 1865 on behalf of the monastery Itzehoe and the Office Bordesholm after a wooden crossing had been canceled. Today's concrete abutments in 1950 created by the company G. Petersen from Flintbek on the existing timber piles.
