Technoflug Piccolo

The Piccolo is a single-seat self-launching motor glider from the German manufacturer Technoflug light aircraft GmbH & Co. KG Were produced by the company in the Black Forest around 120 pieces, some with UL approval.

Construction

The single-seat high-wing monoplane in GRP construction is driven by a fixed two-stroke engine of the type SOLO 2350 BS (23 PS), which is mounted in push arrangement behind the wings. The folding propeller Technoflug KS 118-3-2 (diameter 1.22 m) with aluminum hub and three individually foldable blades is driven by a reduction gear of three V-belt ( 2.1:1 ). When the engine is switched off, the leaves fold back automatically, thus ensuring a reduced air resistance in gliding operations. The centrifugal force, the FRP sheets with the engine starts again immediately in the operating position. The first Piccolo (also called a Piccolo ) with her nose from the LTB Borowski in Fluorn- Winzeln ( later of Techno Flight ) with the 2350B solo and propeller KS 118-3 (diameter 1.18 m) were built. In this embodiment, the Piccolo does not reach the high sensitivity to noise as the Piccolo b. Most Piccolo were converted over time to Piccolo b. The abgestrebten wings are provided with spoilers. They easily with the aid of a mounting aid dismantle by a single person.

Use

The Piccolo is designed according to JAR 22 as a motor sailer and is based on the light aircraft AN- 20K by Albert Neukom. The fact that it is not designed as a glider is reflected both in its external appearance with abgestrebten wings, abgeklebter leading edge and its tripod nose wheel as well as in its performance. It is therefore more suitable for walking than for the air flight performance.
