Technopole

Technopolis (Japaneseテクノ ポリス, Tekunoporisu ) or Technopolis concept refers to a Japanese program of the establishment of technology parks to regional economic development and establishment of high- tech industries in underdeveloped regions.

Historical development

The plan was developed by MITI and 1983 as Technopolis Act (テクノ ポリス 法, Tekunoporisu - hō, actually :高度 技术 工业 集 积 地域 开 発 促进 法, Kodo gijutsu - Kōgyō - shūseiki - chiiki - Kaihatsu - sokushin - hō, dt "Act to promote regional development through accumulation of high technology and industry" ) institutionalized. Thus, companies were made available to low-interest loans for investment in assisted areas and granted tax breaks and favorable depreciation rules. First were 19 regions as candidates producing regions, later a total of 26 were selected, all with access to traditional sites of the early Edo period, so-called Joka -machi (castle - towns).

In 1999, the guidelines were (新 事业 创出 促进 法shinjigyō - sōshutsu - sokushin - hō ) applied to the support program in the Law for Facilitating the creation of new business. Since 2005 this has been abolished and replaced by the Act for Facilitating New Business Activities of Small and Medium -sized Enterprises (中小 企業 の 新た な 事業 活動 の 促進 に関する 法律, chūshō - Kígyó no arata na Jigyo Katsudo no sokushin ni kan suru hōritsu ).

Objectives and characteristics

The Technopolis Program is to revitalize the goal of structurally weak regions and reduce the migration of workers and enterprises in the overcrowded centers, particularly Tokyo, Yokohama and Osaka. Outside these urban areas are to be built inland new planned towns. Among the most important characteristics of these locations include:

  • Manufacturing the highest stage of development of electronic or chemical industries.
  • Research centers, universities that cooperate very closely with the business community.
  • Residential complexes for higher claims (without skyscrapers ) for about 150,000 residents.
  • Close connection to a neighboring city that offers all the facilities of the traditional agglomerations best routes between Technopolis and older cities.
  • Close to an airport or New direction for passenger and air freight.
  • Attractive recreation and leisure facilities in a largely intact environment, such as golf, tennis courts and parks.
