Technopolis (Gazi)

Technopolis ( Gazi ) is a venue and Museum of the City of Athens near the Kerameikos.

History

In 1857, the Athens gasworks was established in 1862 and fully operational. In August 1984, the plant was shut down after beforehand a new plant in Aspropyrgos was put into operation. In the 1990s, the site was acquired by the city and turned into a venue, while the old plants were obtained. Eight buildings have today the names of Greek poets and show a thematic exhibition on the work, provided that such buildings are not used for temporary exhibitions. On the site there is also the sending home of local radio station 9.84.
