Ted Turner (guitarist)

Ted Turner (actually David Allen Turner, born August 2, 1950 in Birmingham, England ) is a British guitarist, founding member of the rock band Wishbone Ash.

Inspired by the British blues boom of the 1960s began Turner with 17 years of playing guitar. He played in a local band, King Biscuit, and competed unsuccessfully at the Colosseum.

In 1969, he answered an ad about the Martin Turner and Steve Upton a guitarist for a new band investigated. Since the two could not decide between two candidates, Ted Turner and Andy Powell, she finally took after a second trial both in the band that would become known as Wishbone Ash.

Ted Turner and Andy Powell were one of the most influential lead guitar duos in rock history that influenced bands like Thin Lizzy, Iron Maiden and Big Country. Turner played on the first four albums by Wishbone Ash with, sang and wrote some pieces.

1974 Turner left the band and went to America, where he performed in the 1970s and 1980s with various artists and bands. In 1987 he came back to Wishbone Ash, but jumped again from 1994.

Since 1997 lives and plays Turner back in England.
