Teddy Buckner

John Edward "Teddy" Buckner (* July 16, 1909 in Sherman, Texas, † September 22, 1994 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American trumpeter and singer of Dixieland.

Buckner played in the early 1930s on the West Coast ( including among Sonny Clay in Los Angeles ), 1934 in Shanghai with Buck Clayton and thereafter, inter alia, with Benny Carter (1945 to 1948), Lionel Hampton (1947 /48) and Horace Henderson. From 1949 to 1954 he was in the Creole Jazz Band of Kid Ory and led from 1954 to 1966 his own band, which at times also Pud Brown was a member. In 1958 he appeared with Sidney Bechet in France. From 1965 to 1981 he played in Disneyland in New Orleans Square. He took under his own name for the label GNP / Crescendo.

Buckner also played with blues musicians T-Bone Walker and had some supporting roles as an actor, such as in "They Shoot Horses, Do not They? " By Sydney Pollack as a member of the band. He also played cornet at times, such as in " Pennies from Heaven ," " St. Louis Blues" (1958), " Pete Kelly 's Blues " (1955, by Jack Webb).
