Teemu Wirkkala

Teemu Wirkkala Sakari (born 14 January 1984) is a Finnish javelin thrower. Wirkkala's best jump is 87.23 meters, situated at 322 in July 2009 in Joensuu.

2003 Teemu Wirkkala in Tampere with a throw over 79.90 meters European Championship for Juniors. His best throws exceeded at this time already 80 meters. It was not until 2006, increased the fledgling Wirkkala and took part in the European Championships in Gothenburg, where he finished sixth. At the 2007 World Championships in Osaka Wirkkala remained with a throw to 78.01 meters below its expectations and was only twelfth. Three weeks later Wirkkala reached in Stuttgart at the IAAF World Athletics Final in fifth place. His compatriot Tero Pitkämäki had won the competition. In Finland he has strong competitors with Pitkämäki and Tero Järvenpää. In the 2008 Olympics he reached number five.

Wirkkala is 1,85 m tall and has a competition weight of 78 kg.
