Teenuse ( German Stenhusen ) is a village (Estonian küla ) in the Estonian rural municipality in the district Märjamaa Rapla. It has 123 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2005). To Teenuse also includes the hamlet of Altküla.

Location and History

Teenuse located on the eponymous river Teenuse Jõgi, the upper and middle reaches of the Kasari Jõgi. Crosses a 67.5 m long bridge in Teenuse the river. It was built in 1908. From 1947 to 1996 was in Teenuse a hydrometric station (yes Hüdroloogia Eesti Instituut Meteoroloogia ) was operated by the Estonian Meteorological and Hydrological Institute.

The village was first mentioned in documents in 1456. In the 16th century the estate was Teenuse. It was the latest since 1765 owned by the noble family von Maydell. Teenuse is the birthplace of Baltic German painter Friedrich Ludwig von Maydell ( 1795-1846 ).

The present manor house dates from the 18th century. It was badly damaged by arson in 1905, but subsequently renovated and rebuilt. In the manor house, which is surrounded on three sides by the rivers Teenuse Jõgi and Luiste Jõgi, the cultural center of the town and by 1996 there were during the Soviet occupation of Estonia in primary school. Today the library of the village is housed therein. Preserved are also the caretaker's house and the store with red brick chimney from the 18th century. The three -acre park is nestled in the natural surroundings.
