Tegelberg Cable Car

The Tegelbergbahn is 2146.18 -meter-long cable car up the mountain at Tegel Schwangau. The aerial tramway, which overcomes a height of 892.5 meters, has a supporting rope with 48 mm and a pull-wire with 26 mm diameter. It has 2 cabins with a capacity of 44 people. It is driven by a 250 kW motor. The Tegelbergbahn has a 38 meters high, designed as a reinforced concrete structure cableway support.

The railway was built by the South Tyrolean company Hölzl Seilbahnbau.

At the foot of the railway came in 1966 when excavation for the base station of a rectangular partially heated antique house and only a little further east, a bathhouse from the 2nd century from the ground. In both buildings there were color well preserved frescoes, some of which are from the spa is now shown in the Bavarian State Archaeological Collection. The Roman settlement Tegel mountain is 1934/35 has become known for the first time. For an incident occurred on August 12, 2011: After a tandem paraglider had got caught in the ropes, the operation had to be suspended. 132 people were flown into the valley from the mountain station. 30 passengers from the lower cable car were lowered to evening from about 50 meters. 19 passengers and the cable car leader in the upper gondola were rescued by helicopter due to the strong wind until the morning of August 13, 2011.
