Tegid Foel

Tegid Foel ( " Tegid the Bald " ) is the name of a deity and legendary figure from Welsh mythology.

Mythology

Tegid Foel is in the narrative Hanes Taliesin ( "The History of Taliesin " ) the husband of the witch Ceridwen and the father of the ugly and the beautiful Morfran Creirwy. He is the eponymous deity of water from the lake Llyn Tegid ( Bala Lake in Penllyn, Gwynedd, Powys cantref ), where he resides with Ceridwen. Also in Culhwch ac Olwen ( "The Story of Kulhwch and Olwen " ), in Breuddwyd Rhonabwy ( " Rhonabwys Dream" ) and in the Trioedd Ynys Prydein ( " The Triads of the Island of Britain " ), he is mentioned.

In Welsh genealogies (eg Vitae Sanctorum Britanniae et genealogiae ) also two other daughters named Degfed ("the tenth " ) and Dwywai be called.
