Tegmentum

Tegmental area ( cover of Latin tegere, " top", " hood" ) in the brain called the layer in the region of the brainstem, which is adjacent to the inner ventral subarachnoid space.

The tegmental area can be divided into:

• Tegmental myelencephali, Nachhirnhaube, see the medulla oblongata
• Pontine tegmentum, pontine tegmentum, see Pons

• Mesencephalic tegmentum, midbrain hood
