The Tehama County is a county located in the state of California, United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Red Bluff.

Geography

The County is located in Northern California and has an area of ​​7672 square kilometers, of which 29 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Shasta County, Plumas County, Butte County, Glenn County, Mendocino County and Trinity County.

History

Tehama County was founded in 1856 from Butte County, Colusa County and Shasta County. The county was named after the town of Tehama. Possible origins lie in the Arab word tehama ( "hot lowlands " ), the Spanish word Tejamanil or " high water " in the dialect of the North American Indians.
