Tehosekoitin

Tehosekoitin (Finnish: Mixer) was a Finnish rock band that was founded in Lahti in 1991 and existed until 2004.

Band History

In the beginning the band punk influences had in their music, but it later became a major Finnish rock band. The breakthrough of the band was the song C'mon baby yeah!. Other well-known songs are, inter alia, Pyydä tähdet taivaalta ( Please the stars from the sky) Asfaltti polttaa ( The asphalt burns ), Pillitä, Elli, pillitä ( Howl, Elli, cry ) and Maailma on sun ( The world is yours ). The lyrics of the band talk about love and the carefree rock lifestyle.

Like many other bands rehearsing Tehosekoitin at the beginning of her career in unassuming rehearsal rooms. The composition of the band was equally clear from the start: Otto Grundström (vocals), Ari Tiaien (guitar), Hannu Kilkki (bass) and Matti Mikkola (drums). Grundström the singer and the figurehead of the band was up to their resolution.

From 1992 to 1993 Tehosekoitin had a good reputation in the small Finnish punk scene. Because the major record label offered the band a record deal, guitarist Arska founded his own record label, Levy- yhtiö. More bands at Levy - yhtiö were among other Apulanta and Punaiset Messiaat.

The first album Rock'n'Roll appeared in 1994. Matti Mikkola composed the songs and singers Otto Grundström wrote the lyrics. In 1997 the second album Köyhät appeared syntiset and was very successful. The single C'mon baby Yeah was number one in the Finnish Charts.

Breakup of the band

Since the spring of 2001 the guitarist Ari Tiainen no longer plays in the band, but became their manager. The band stopped in 2004 with games, the last concert took place on August 1 at the Ankkarock music festival in the city of Vantaa instead. Otto Grundström wrote after the time the band a collection of poems Tähtiotsa (star forehead), which appeared at the Helsinki Publisher Johnny Kniga 2005. He also studied at the University of Helsinki Latin, religion, and art history. In the summer of 2009 Tehosekoitin participants reiterated a small tour, which was not a comeback, but only a farewell tour.
