Teishebaini

Teišebai URU, also Teišebai ardi ( "City of weather God"), Teischebai, Teischebani was the Urartian capital of the Transcaucasian province. The place now belongs to Armenia.

The ruins of the city are situated in a south-western suburb of Yerevan on the hill Karmir Blur ( " Red Hill " ) on the shores of Hrazdan ( urart. Ildarunia ) near the main road to Echmiadzin.

Teišebai URU (ca. 680 BC) built by King Rusa II at the beginning of his reign. Erebuni ( Arin Berd - ), the old capital of the province ' Aza - so the Urartian name of this region - was abandoned and brought the treasure of the city after Teišebai. The city was the same fortress. The city is named after the weather gods Teišeba. At the same time also a temple of the kingdom of God Haldi was built.

Construction of the building lasted up to the time of King Rusa III. of. The total area of ​​the town was 0.44 km2. Soviet excavations under the direction of Boris Borisovich Piotrowski in the citadel promoted wooden chairs with bronze fittings, a statue of Teišeba and many gold and silver objects to light. It also suits of armor, helmets and shields, ivory objects, stone seals and ceramic vessels were found. The citadel was probably destroyed BC beginning of the 6th century.

Another place called Teišebai URU, which was founded by Rusa I., was at the lake Sevan and has been identified with the fortress Odzaberd.
