Geography

Geographical Location

Teisnach lies in the Danube- forest in the natural park of the Bavarian Forest, namely at the mouth of the river Teisnach in the black rain. Through a part of the municipality of Flinzbach flows. The market town is located about 13 km southeast of Viechtach, 25 km north of Deggendorf and 18 km north- west of the county town of Regen.

History

Previously Teisnach was a small fishing village on the Black Rain. The first mention of the area was in 1367, in 1430 the existence of a mill in Teisnach is recorded in a document. Teisnach belonged to Rentamt Straubing and the district court Viechtach of the Electorate of Bavaria. Responsibilities were divided here between the district court and the Viechtach Pfleggericht Linden. In the course of administrative reform in the Kingdom of Bavaria was born with the congregation of 1818 from the communities Teisnach, Kaikenried and Sohl, the current community. After lengthy negotiations, the decision to move the parish seat of vultures Thal to Teisnach fell. The dilapidated church of Geiersthal was partially canceled and converted into a church cemetery. Teisnach is an industrial site. In the narrow valley of the river lies the Rain paper mill Pfleiderer Teisnach specialty papers. Train

Personalities

  • Michael Badger (1876-1941), composer and music theorist, was born in the mill at Grand Teisnach. He wrote a widely available today harmony and composed, inter alia, several masses.

Events

In the community found 2006-2008 annual concerts by international performers instead. The wholly owned subsidiary of the market town " culture in Teisnach GmbH" in 2006 organized an open- air concert with Peter Maffay, 2007 Pink and 2008 with Lenny Kravitz. These concerts were each about 10,000 concertgoers. Despite a positive vote by citizens, the majority of council members refused to continue the concerts due to large financial losses.
