Tekyeh

A Tekiyeh (Persian تكيه ) is a place where the Shiites gather to their martyr al- Husayn ibn ' Alī ( Hossein in Iran called ) to commemorate; these ceremonies bear the name Ta'ziya.

These sites are encountered mainly in Iran. They are designed traditionally in Persian architecture.

It is estimated that Tehran in the Qajar era had 50 Tekiyehs.
