Teleborg Castle

The Teleborg Castle (Swedish: Teleborgs slott ) is at Växjö Kronoberg County in the District in the Småland region of Sweden.

Location

The castle is situated right on the lake Trummen and opposite the campus of the University of Växjö about 5 kilometers south of the city center.

History

The name of the castle comes from one of the largest villages in the south of Växjö, was formerly Telestad. The Swedish word borg here means castle or fortress. Around the turn of the century from the 18th century to the 19th century, the village was by a local government reform after built at this time Castle also called Teleborg.

The builder, Count Gustav Fredrik Bonde, had the castle around 1900 for his wife Anna Koskull built as a wedding gift. Decorated to the building through the medieval castles of the Rhine Valley.

The city of Växjö bought the estate Teleborg in 1964 for 3.7 million Swedish crowns.

Use
