Telecommunications-Management-Network

Telecommunications Management Network ( TMN ) is a management architecture for distributed management of public telecommunications networks, which is based on the OSI reference model.

TMN is a set of standards, which finds acceptance as a basis for effective management of telecommunications networks across the board. It contains guidelines, architectures and protocols for the exchange of information between managers and managers or between manager and agent and is intended to support management activities related to telecommunications networks.

It is a completely separate logical network that exists next to the telecommunications network and to ensure a uniform network management. Thought it is a priori for large systems: some 1000 devices, many participants on a larger geographical area.

The TMN has been defined by ITU- T in the M.3000.

Logical layers

But are realized only the lower three layers. FCAPS occurs at all layers.
