Teleconnection

Under teleconnection is understood in meteorology is a connection between weather events in two widely separated areas.

The correlations relate for example to the contrasting behavior of the air pressure or temperature. For instance, there is a tendency to an opposing pressure gradient between Iceland and the Azores. That is, the lower the air pressure over Iceland is, it is higher (over a longer time interval, about a month, averaged) over the Azores and vice versa. This phenomenon is referred to as Atlantic Oscillation. Also connected on average in winter under normal temperatures in the room eastern Canada / Greenland with about normal temperatures over Europe.
