Telefomin

Telefomin is a town and capital of the same Telefomin Rural Local -level Government and the District Telefomin Sandaun Province in Papua New Guinea. The town lies on top Sepik in the west of the country, in the Star Mountains in the area of the central highlands.

The place is also known by the ornate entrance boards ( amitung ) and combat shields ( atkom ). On display are such pieces in various museums such as the British Museum of Mankind London, Sydney Australian Museum, Museum of Ethnology, Berlin, Museum of Ethnology Basel, Musee National des Arts et Africains Océaniens Paris.
