Telefunken telcom c4

Telcom c4 is a compander noise reduction in professional audio systems. The system was developed by Telefunken and presented in the fall of 1975.

Telcom c4 has a linear characteristic and can reduce up to 25 dB noise level. It is compressed independently four bands. In addition, the release times may be adjusted differently in each of the low-pass. It can be easily reached up to 85 dB. A CD for example, has a dynamic range of 92 dB. With telcom c4 thus almost CD quality.

Expander and compressor must be symmetric and linear. By the linearity of bands can be used in different machines having different Telcom nominal levels ( level independent ).
