Telekom Srbija

Telekom Srbija (full name: za Preduzece telekommunikacije Telekom Srbija ad) is a Serbian telecommunications company, which was founded in June 1997 as a public company.

History

Originating Telekom Srbija is out of state Posta, telegraph i phone ( PTT). 1997 were sold at public auction 49 percent of the share capital worth over 800 million euros ( 1.568 billion DM). 29 percent went to the Telecom Italia and 20 percent to the Greek OTE.

In 2002, the Italian company withdrew and sold their share to the state, so that today again 80 percent, over the postal service Posta Srbije, are state-owned.

Offers all types of communications, including internet access. Since August 9, 1997, in the 900 MHz cellular network is offered under the name MTS ( Mobilna Telefonija Srbije ).

2006, 65 percent of operating in Bosnia - Herzegovina telecom company Telekom Srpska were bought for 646 million euros.

2010 showed the German Telekom interest to participate in the company, because the Serbian government wanted to sell half of its 80 percent. The remaining 20 percent belong to the Greek group OTE, where the German Telekom in turn holds 30 percent.
