Teles of Megara

Teles of Megara ( Ancient Greek Τέλης Teles ) was a Greek philosopher of ancient, who lived in the 3rd century BC. One counts him among the Cynics.

Teles is known from only a single source, a Book of John Stobaeus, in the seven passages have been preserved from the writings of the Teles. We know next to nothing about Teles ' life and his philosophy.

Life

In one of the quotes from Teles ' writings there is an allusion to a political event, which took place between 242 and probably 240 BC. This is the only clue to determine the lifetime Teles '. Another passage suggests that Teles possibly came from Megara or lived at least for a while there.

Teaching

At Teles ' teachings are preserved passages in John Stobaeus, where Stobaeus from an otherwise unknown Theodoros reproduces seven excerpts. It has designated it ( written as diatribes ) seven fragments according to their topic.

Expenditure
