Televerket (Sweden)

Televerket was the name of the Swedish state-owned telephone company 1953-1993 who conducted the Swedish telephone network, the television network and the mobile phone network.

The Swedish Kongl. Elecktriska telegraph Werket was founded following a government resolution in February 1853, and in November the same year, the first telegraph line between Stockholm and Uppsala was put into operation. The name was changed in 1871 in Kongl. Telegrafverket and 1903 in Kungl. Telegrafverket. To celebrate its centenary in 1953, the name was eventually shortened to Televerket.

1992 Televerket was split. The operation of the nation -wide radio and television station was taken over by the corporation Teracom, mobile telephony and data networks were introduced on 1 July 1993 in a public limited company called Telia, the operation of the phone book came in 2000 to Eniro. 33 percent of shares in Telia were introduces on 13 July 2000 on the OMX.
