Telford

Telford is a planned city in the management unit Telford and Wrekin in the West Midlands with 138 241 inhabitants (as of 2001). Telford is connected via the M54 Motorway to the UK motorway network.

Telford was on the drawing board and was built in the 1960s and 1970s. This existing sites such Dawley, Oakengates, Wellington and Madeley were included. At Telford includes the Ironbridge Gorge, the valley of Ironbridge, a World Heritage Site. The River Severn in this valley is from the 1779 -built Iron Bridge - spans - the world's first iron bridge.

The name refers to Thomas Telford, an early modern Civil road and bridge construction.

In the Telford International Centre was from 2007 to 2010, the UK Championship, a major snooker tournament played.

In the suburbs has Cobra seats, a manufacturer of car seats and motorsport accessories, is headquartered.
