Teliospore

The teliospores (also known as teliospores ) is a spore form of the rust fungi and smut fungi, which serves these for the winter. Teleutospores arise against autumn, usually in the Uredosporenlagern the rust fungi or in the befallenenen plant parts of the smut fungi. The fungal mycelium is equipped to the formation of teliospores with two haploid nuclei ( dikaryont ). In the teleutospores it comes then to nuclear fusion ( karyogamy ). Teleutospores have a thick cell wall with a germ pore, which protects against cold and dehydration in the winter. The rust fungi usually consist of two cells ( = probasidia ), such as the cereal stem rust Puccinia graminis. But you can be (eg Phragmidium spec.) Also unicellular (eg Uromyces spp.) Or multicellular. They also have a short stalk on which they break if they are fully developed, and are then dispersed by the wind.

In spring germinating spores from each of the cells under meiosis, and there are two haploid basidia on which then the basidiospores are formed.
