Tell Me Your Wish (Genie) (song)

"Genius " is a song by South Korean pop group Girls' Generation, the first time in 2009 in South Korea under the name " 소원 을 말해봐 ( Genie )" ( Sowoneul Malhaebwa ) was published. Especially in the English-speaking world the song is also known as "Tell Me Your Wish".

The K-pop song can be assigned to the genre Synthpop and dance pop.

Overview

"Genius" was originally written by the Norwegian songwriting team Dsign Music and Fridolin Nordsø Schjoldan. In the original, the song was titled "I Just Wanna Dance " and was written in English. After the label S. M. Entertainment had acquired the song on the rights, commissioned Yoo Young -jin to write a Korean text for the composition.

2010, a Japanese -language version of the title was released under the name " Genie " in Japan.

Awards and chart positions

In Japan, the single " Genie " by the Recording Industry Association of Japan was awarded the gold status for more than 100,000 units sold. From iTunes Japan the single was honored as Breakthrough Album of 2010.

Plagiarism and Cover

2009, even before the appearance of Girls' Generation " Genie ", the Uzbek singer Dineyra released the song " Raqsga Tushgin ". Both songs use the same melody. In Dineyras version is, according to the Universal Music Publishing Group plagiarism.

On 19 May 2010 the Dutch singer Nathalie Makoma released the song "I Just Wanna Dance ", a cover of Girls' Generation " Genie ". They used the original English text of the song writer.

An English version also appeared on 3 June 2011 by the British singer CJ Lewis.
