Tellancourt

Tellancourt is a commune with 569 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle in the Lorraine region.

Geography

The community Tellancourt lies on the border with Belgium, about ten kilometers west of Longwy. The municipality covers a little indented plateau between the deeply cut valleys of the rivers sound in the north and in the south Chiers.

Neighboring municipalities of Saint- Pancré Tellancourt are in the north, Fresnois -la -Montagne to the southeast, Viviers- sur- Chiers ( point of contact ) to the south, Longuyon in the southwest and Virton (Belgium ) in the northwest.

History

In the time of the Ancien Régime Tellancourt belonged to the Duchy of Bar

For the services in World War Tellancourt received the award of Croix de Guerre with Palmenweig.

By Tellancourt the highway from Longwy to Sedan performs as part of the European Route 44 from Le Havre to Luxembourg. Other roads connect Tellancourt with the Belgian Virton and other surrounding communities. The nearest railway station is located in the eight kilometers away Longuyon ( line Charleville -Mézières - Thionville ).
