Teller County, Colorado

The plate County is a county located in the center of the U.S. state of Colorado. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Cripple Creek.

Geography

The County is located in Eastern Colorado and has an area of 1,448 square kilometers, of which 5 square kilometers of water surfaces. It is bordered clockwise to the Douglas County in the north, El Paso in the west, Fremont in the south and southeast and Park in the east. U.S. Highway 24 runs through the county over the Ute Pass.

History

The center of Colorado was also the center of the Colorado Gold Rush in the late 19th century. Through the county, also known as the Gold Belt Byway, a link road connecting different mines pulls together. Today, the Gold Belt Byway is a road from which panoramic views of the rugged terrain are possible.

The County has been released from the 1899 west of Pikes Peak located part after the local miners were harassed by the men of the Sheriff of El Paso County. The miners organized themselves and formed their own "government" in Cripple Creek. Teller County is named after the former interior minister from Colorado, Henry Moore Teller, named.
