Teluk Dalam

Teluk Dalam is a port city in the south of the Indonesian island of Nias off the western coast of Sumatra and the capital of the district of South Nias.

Teluk Dalam 2004 had about 76,750 inhabitants.

Area Teluk Dalam is known for its surfing areas such as the beaches Sorake Beach or Lagundri Beach.

Also nearby are many historic villages, the evidence of past megalithic cultures, such as Bawomataluo, Botohilitano or Hilisimaetano.

Due to the tsunami of 26 December 2004 and during the earthquake of 28 March 2005, several hundred people died on the island of Nias. Almost all the villages were affected by demolitions.
