Temmes

Temmes is a place and a former municipality in the Finnish countryside Nordoesterbotten. 2001 Temmes was incorporated in Tyrnävä.

Temmes lies on the River Temmesjoki about eleven kilometers south of the main town Tyrnävä. The main attraction of the village is the wooden church built in 1767.

The community Temmes included not only the eponymous capital of the villages Haapakylä, Haurukylä, Kärsämä and Ylipää. It was released in 1766 as a chapel of the parish church Liminka, 1899 it became an independent municipality. The community Temmes had an area of 116 square kilometers and last about 700 inhabitants. At the beginning of Temmes was largely incorporated into the community Tyrnävä, smaller enclaves of the township were Liminka, Lumijoki and Rantsila affiliated.
