Under the direction of Church -of- Satan - Master Michael Aquino was a schism, since the sale of offices led to some resentment by Anton Szandor LaVey. Aquino sees himself as the second " Beast 666 " by Aleister Crowley. Aquino is still an active member of the Temple of Set, the Office of the High Priest was, however, after growing criticism from at his management style.

Philosophy

The philosophy of the Temple of Set is called " enlightened individualism " and propagated individual, experimental self-realization strategies which are the hieroglyphic term Kepher or " Xeper " paraphrased ( in the notation of the ToS ).

Xeper is symbolized by the scarab. Target were the "psychic rebirth " and the attainment of immortality within the Temple of Set. The philosophy of the Temple of Set in 1975, documented in the founding document of the Book of Coming Forth by Night, from the Aquino claimed that the ancient Egyptian god Seth would have given him the word Xeper in the meaning of "Will ," while the " North Solstice X Working", also known as "The Santa Barbara Working", informed. Xeper was established in 1996 by Don Webb in a more concentrated than new translation "Ins existence get " interpreted.

Membership is divided into six levels of initiation:

From the third degree, a priesthood was possible. Full member can only be given by a priest who gets the degree of the Adept, which is possible after a maximum two-year trial period. For the priesthood there were no specific criteria for the recognition and no guidelines for working with new initiators so that the recognition of the second degree is done randomly.
