History

The city was founded in 1881 on the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway line and was named in honor of the chief engineer of this company named Bernard Moore Temple. With the construction of a new railway line, the Missouri - Kansas - Texas Railroad, the importance of the young city grew. However, the infrastructure was not yet very advanced, there was little brick houses and paved roads, but a large number of saloons. The city therefore received the internal joke name " Tanglefoot ", which means something like: " Difficult to walking ."

Today Temple is an important center for medicine and has several hospitals.
