Tendinosis

A torn tendon or a tendon rupture is a tear or a rupture ( rupture) of a tendon in case of sudden overload of the tendon or jerky contraction of the associated muscle.

There is usually a degenerative previously pre-damage of the tendon.

The Achilles tendon is the most common tendon rupture. Other common injuries are

  • At the knee, the quadriceps tendon and the Patellarsehnenruptur
  • On the upper arm of the biceps tendon rupture and shoulder tears in the rotator cuff.

Especially in the sport, it can also lead to rupture of the hamstrings muscles. The triceps tendon ruptures are rare.
