Tendring
Tendring is a District in the county of Essex in England. It is named after the village of Tendring, but the council is based in Clacton -on-Sea. The District extends from the River Stour in the north to the River Colne in the south. Thus, the area forms a peninsula extending into the North Sea.
The district was formed on 1 April 1974 and evolved from the merger of the towns Brigthlingsea, Clacton -on-Sea and Harwich with the Urban District Finton and Walton and the Tendring Rural District.
