Tenerife Espacio de las Artes
The institution Tenerife Espacio de las Artes (TEA ) is an arts and cultural center in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. In the building are located on an area of 20,622 m² various exhibitions, cinema and lecture halls, the Biblioteca Municipal de Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the Centro de Fotografía Isla de Tenerife. The opening took place on 31 October 2008. In the planning and construction phase, the project was called the Instituto Óscar Domínguez de Arte y Cultura Contemporánea ( IODACC ). The building was designed by the Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, together with the local architect Virgilio Gutierrez.
Location
The building is located in downtown Santa Cruz de Tenerife on the right side of the Barranco de Santos in close proximity to the building of the Old Civil Hospital ( Civil Hospital ) in the Museo de la Naturaleza y el Hombre is located. The upper entrance of the TEA is located opposite the market Nuestra Señora de Africa. The library and the restaurant are from the Barranco de Santos accessible. By public transportation ( guagua and Tranvia ) the TEA can be reached from all parts of the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife but also of the neighboring university town of La Laguna problem.
Architecture
The parts of the building are created along the lines of a Canarian mansion around a triangular courtyard (patio ). While it is very closed from the outside by its mirrored only by pixel-like glass concrete blocks and concrete surfaces, the impression from the inside through the large glass surfaces to the patio and to open up space behind the outer walls just the opposite. A public footpath runs right through the building, through the courtyard, connecting via a ramp, the area of the market Nuestra Señora de Africa with the old town around the church Concepción.
Facilities
The courtyard is ideal for events such as theater or music performances. There are three levels three halls for art exhibitions of TEA, a " festival hall" ( Sala de Actos ) for lectures and regular film screenings, a space for video presentations, a space that is ideal for workshop courses with children. These facilities can be reached through the main entrance on the patio. A further hall for exhibitions, which is used primarily by the Centro de Fotografía Isla de Tenerife, is open to visitors only from from from Barranco. The café-restaurant is how the library on the same level WiFi zone. The museum shop with an entrance directly to the bridge General Serador all catalogs of past exhibitions are sold.
