Tenerife Goldcrest

The Canary Islands Kinglet (Regulus teneriffae ) is a small songbird. Canaries Firecrest and Goldcrest (Regulus regulus ) are considered by some authors as conspecific.

From Goldcrest it differs by the broader black stripes on the front of the head, the slightly darker bottom and a long beak. The Canary Islands Kinglet lives as state bird on the western Canary Islands like Tenerife, La Gomera and La Palma. It prefers forests with Canary pines, but also occurs in laurel forests.
