Tenna GR

Tenna ( in the local dialect: [ tɛn ː ə ] or [ tɛnæ ] ) was until December 31, 2012, a municipality in the district of the district Safien Surselva in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. It lies on a plateau in the Safiental to 1654 m above sea level. On 1 January 2013, it merged with the municipalities Valendas, Versam Safien and the new community Safiental.

The figure of the saint comes from the municipal seals, where it was depicted as a towering figure.

Population

The approximately 110 living in Tenna people are mostly mountain farmers. They farm land in the whole valley.

History

The village of Tenna was probably founded by immigrants from the Valais Walser, at that time, however, somewhat higher on the hillside. The old village was located where today the " Tenner Cross " stands. The territory of the scattered settlement Tenna was made by clearing later habitable.

The name Tenna is 1398 in the forms Thena, Thäna, Thenna. He is with the words brought Tenn. (s) &c.>

Attractions

The Gothic Reformed Church dates from the year 1408; the roof according to an inscription on the ceiling from the year 1504. The church contains late-Gothic wall paintings from the early 15th century.

In Tenna of the world's first solar ski lift was built in November 2011. The 450 meter long drag lift is equipped with 82 solar wings. The Wings, each with three panels are secured to support cables several meters above the lift. They provide an annual output of about 90,000 kWh, which are needed for the ski lift operating around 25,000 kWh.

2011 Tenna was the venue for the Swiss TV program SF bi de Lüt, in several episodes have been reported about the daily life of various village people and the construction of the solar ski lift.
