The 1049 km long Tennessee is the longest tributary of the Ohio. It flows through the U.S. states of Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama and Mississippi.

It is formed by the confluence of the French Broad River ( 376 km long) and Holston River ( 225 km) in a valley of the Appalachian Mountains. He eventually empties into the Ohio at Paducah.

If you count the lengths of Tennessee and French Broad together, the entire river is 1425 km long.

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA ) manages the reservoirs of the Tennessee River system.
