Tennis at the Summer Olympics
Tennis was already at the I. Olympic Games 1896 on the program, was canceled after the Olympic Summer Games in 1924 from the program. After two demonstration competitions were carried out in tennis, Tennis was again included in the Olympics 1988 Summer Games to the program and has since become an integral part in the Summer Games.
In the years 1896, 1900, 1904, 1988 and 1992, the loser of the semifinal shared the bronze medal. In all other years, the bronze medal was played out in a small final.
Since the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, the Olympic tennis tournament is also one for ATP and WTA world rankings.
