Tenori-on

Tenori -on (Japanese手 乗り 音, / te ong nori / ) is an electronic musical instrument developed by media artist Toshio Iwai (岩 井 俊雄) in collaboration with Yū Nishibori (西堀 ユウ) and Yamaha. Launch was in 2007.

The instrument consists of a magnesium frame with a matrix of 16x16 LED buttons on the brief as a sequencer loops and patterns can be intuitively programmed and played. The keys are also used for visualization of the played music. On the back are 16x16 LEDs that mirror the same visual effects show during the game as the buttons on the front. A MIDI interface data can be exchanged with other MIDI -enabled devices.
