Terence Davies

Terence Davies ( born November 10, 1945 in Liverpool, England ) is a British film director, screenwriter and actor.

Life

His film career began Davies as an actor in insignificant roles for various British television series. In 1976 he completed his first short film Children, with whom he wanted to put his tragic childhood, which was marked by a tyrannical father, a cinematic monument. This theme was also the dominant one in the other two short films Madonna and Child (1980) and Death and Transfiguration (1983 ), which were grouped together with his debut in 1984 in a trilogy.

In 1988 his first feature film Distant Voices - Still life with which he re- created a family portrait in consideration of autobiographical experiences. The film received several awards, including one of three awarded FIPRESCI Awards at the International Film Festival of Cannes 1988. Having Davies 1992 had come with the end of a long day, a sequel to his debut film, he devoted himself to two fictional works. The costume drama The House of Mirth on a novel by Edith Wharton earned him several awards and nominations for both directed and also wrote the screenplay.
