Terfens is a municipality with 2107 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the Schwaz district (on the border with the county of Innsbruck Land ), Tyrol ( Austria ). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Schwaz.

Geography
Terfens is located in the Lower Inn Valley, about 20 km east of Innsbruck. The Inn forms the southern boundary of the municipality, to the north and east it is characterized by the Vomper creek that flows into the Inn.
The settlement is formed east through the scattered village Terfens on a narrow Innterrasse, New Terfens west and Vomperbach it. The districts Umlberg, Schlogel Bach, harrows and Mairbach are scattered on a low mountain terrace above the Inn Valley, the district Weißlahn to the Innauen.

Place name
The name is of Celtic origin and means Terfens " Eichat ". Already in the late 11th century Terfens is attested as " Tervenes " in the written sources.
