Terje Andersen

Terje Andersen ( born March 4, 1952 in Tønsberg, Vestfold ) is a former Norwegian speed skater.

Andersen has specialized in his active career to the medium range. His international debut was in Grenoble, France at the speed skating all-around European Championship 1973. Doing so, he won the individual distance 500 meters, but could not qualify for the final 10,000 m,. Due to the constant competition from their own team of Sten Stensen, Kay Stenshjemmet Jan Egil Storholt and Amund Sjøbrend he participated only in another international all-around championship. At the World Championships 1975 in Oslo, he finished 12th overall rank.

1976 Andersen joined at the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck, Austria at about 1000 m and 1500 m. He occupied the positions 16 and 15 Then he focused increasingly on short-haul routes. The four Sprint World Championships 1978-1981 he placed three times in the top 10

His biggest success in 1980 as Andersen in the U.S. Lake Placid at the Olympic Winter Games on the 1500 -meter distance to win the bronze medal. About the 1000 m, he reached the 12th place.

After his playing career Andersen remained loyal to the speed skating and was between 1997 and 1999 as well as 2003 and 2007, President of the Norwegian Skating Association.
