Terlizzi

Terlizzi is a southern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 26,974 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the province of Bari, in Puglia. The community is located about 30 kilometers northwest of Bari in the midst of a fertile plain, bordering the province of Barletta -Andria -Trani. North of the village the Autostrada A14 runs from Taranto to Pescara, Ancona and Bologna. Due to the significance of the flowers growing, the city also città dei fiore is called.

History

The town is first mentioned in a deed of the Lombards to the monastery of Monte Cassino from the 8th century. Since the 11th century Terlizzi was largely under the influence of a Norman noble family from Giovinazzo, which fixed both towns, and that until then belonged to Byzantium drove back. From that time, built at a 31 -meter high bell tower has been preserved among others.
