Terrano (grape)

Terrano is a red grape that is similar Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso a variety of Refosco. In the Italian region of Friuli- Venezia Giulia it is in the local DOC area Carso ( Karst ) the Terrano del Carso and vinified in the Emilia- Romagna region of Cagnina di Romagna. In Slovenia (formerly called Kraski Teran ) and produced in Croatia on the peninsula of Istria Teran from her in Aubaugebiet Kras ( Karst ) north of Trieste, the red wine Teran PTP Kras.

The variety developed on karst soils of the region in combination with the often to be seen on the Mediterranean terra rossa soils. It provides variety fruity wines of a deep dark red color, in Friuli therefore also called the Sangue del Carso ( Carser blood). In Slovenian Istria and in the variety Refošk Croatian Teran is mentioned.
