Terre-de-Haut

Terre- de-Haut is a municipality with 1780 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) and an island in the French overseas department of Guadeloupe.

It is like their neighboring community of Terre- de -Bas on a separate archipelago of Îles des Saintes archipelago or also called des Saintes, in the Caribbean Sea, south of the two main islands of Guadeloupe.

The highest point is the peak of Morne du Chamenau to 309 m asl

Important sources of revenue are tourism and fishing.

Among the historical monuments, of which there are several in Terre -de-Haut, is home to the Fort Napoléon des Saintes and the Fort Caroline, who as fortresses long outlived its usefulness.

The Jardin du Fort Napoléon exotique is a botanical garden there.
