Terrell County (Georgia)

The Terrell County is a county located in the state of Georgia in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Dawson.

Geography

The County is located in the central southwest Georgia, is located in the west about 70 miles from Alabama and has an area of 874 square kilometers, of which six square kilometers of water surface, and borders clockwise to the following counties: Sumter County, Lee County, Dougherty County, Calhoun County, Randolph County and Webster County.

History

Terrell County was formed on February 16, 1856 113 County in Georgia from portions of Randolph County and Lee County. It was named after Dr. William Terrell, a Congress Member.
